Sleepy Hollow Bridge Update
The engineering firm of Hey and Associates, Inc. of Volo, Illinois has been contracted with by the Park District of Highland Park to provide engineering services for replacement of the Sleepy Hollow Park pedestrian bridge which spans the Skokie River. The firm specializes in waterway structural engineering and will provide a survey of the Sleepy Hollow site as well as structural engineering, construction bid documents, and permits for the replacement bridge.
This engineering portion of the project began earlier this month and is expected to take twelve weeks to complete due to the anticipated amount of time it will take to obtain permits from the United States Army Corps of Engineers and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The project will then go out to bid and work can begin to replace the bridge.
“We are pleased to have Hey and Associates as part of the project team and we are confident that they will provide the best structural guidance for the Sleepy Hollow replacement bridge, said Liza McElroy, executive director of the Park District. “We appreciate the community’s patience as we work through the necessary steps to replace the bridge and we will continue to provide updates on the project.”
