HIGHLAND PARK, Ill., May 6, 2008— It’s time to gear up and go green for spring! Highland Park will host two clean up sites during this year’s Chicago River Day, sponsored by Friends of the Chicago River on Saturday, May 10 from 9:00 a.m.-Noon. Our volunteers will join 3,900 other volunteers across the Chicago region for a day of hands-on environmental work and celebration along 100 miles of sites on the Chicago River.

Volunteers for Highland Park’s two cleanup site locations (Danny Cunniff Park, 2700 Trail Way, meet at the South Shelter and Highland Park Country Club, 1201 Park Avenue West, meet at the Target parking lot) will work side-by-side to collect and sort trash for recycling, remove invasive vegetation and learn about the Chicago River waterway. For more information please contact Rebecca Grill, Natural Areas Coordinator, at 847.815.0040.
