HIGHLAND PARK, Ill., October 30, 2006— The Park District of Highland Park will hold an important public meeting on Wednesday, November 15, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. at the Highland Park Country Club, 1201 Park Avenue West, to present a final draft master plan for the lakefront, explain cost and phasing considerations and solicit feedback. The public is encouraged to attend to help improve and protect Highland Park’s lakefront for the community and future generations. The planning process began last spring when the Park District asked citizens to help create a vision for Highland Park’s lakefront at the May Lakefront Summit.  From there planning began that will result in ecological restoration, recreational improvements, shoreline preservation and educational programs. In September plans created by JJR, LLC, the District’s consultants, were shared with the public and input was received from over 200 people. ”We are pushing for an even greater turnout at this meeting,” stated Park Board President, Stacy Weiss. “An opportunity like this comes once in a lifetime and will be a huge asset to our community for years to come.”
