How to Qualify for the Annual Ice Show
May 16, 17 & 18, 2008
Who is eligible to participate?
Skaters of all ages and levels can participate. To be eligible, all skaters must enroll in and attend a skating school class for two, nine-week sessions during the 2007-2008 skating season. Skaters in Freestyle 6 and above may qualify for the show by substituting two freestyle sessions per week, from September 4, 2007 to April 20, 2008. Skaters must sign in each session to receive recognition for their participation. One of the required hours may consist of a Highland Park Figure Skating Club session. At ice show time, skaters must participate in the group number of the level they are in at the time of registration.
How involved is the ice show?
There are three mandatory, one-hour practices meeting once a week from mid-April to mid-May. There are one or two dress rehearsals depending on your skater’s level. Participants will skate in either two or four shows the weekend of May 16-18. Rehearsal schedules will be given out in classes and will be available at the front desk.
When do I register?
Ice Show registration takes place December 1-21. Your child must be in attendance in order to be measured for a costume. Skaters will register for the skating level in which they're enrolled.
How do soloists qualify?
Soloists must advance into Freestyle 7 by February 1, 2008. They must, however, participate in the group number for which they registered in December. High school graduating seniors in Freestyle 6 will be awarded solos in the ice show.
