This park is designated a natural area. The railroad embankment created the peculiar wetland that exists on the property. Leonardi has some unusual plant species and stone remnants, which suggest that the area was once a part of an estate garden. Mr. and Mrs. John Leonardi donated the 3 acres to the Park District in 1972.

Features, Amenities and Activities

The Park consists of 3 acres of Wet-Mesic Closed Savanna, Wet Prairie/Marsh, and Floodplain. Rare and endangered plant species such as Dog Violet, and tree species such as Sycamores can be found at Leonardi. Wildlife includes wood ducks, fox, downy woodpeckers, raccoons and coyotes.
