In the winter of 1999 the Park District of Highland Park lost one of its most devoted fans. Seven-year-old Rory Deutsch was a thoughtful, sensitive and extremely bright child always active and always learning. From Parent and Tot classes to T-Ball, Rory was always involved in a Park District activity. In honor of their son’s memory, Ross and Mindy Deutsch lovingly made a donation for a Tot-Lot in the Highland Park subdivision, Highland Lakes. On November 21, 2001 with friends and family gathered, the Deutsch family and the Park District of Highland Park dedicated the land in honor of Rory Deutsch. In Rory, the Park District of Highland Park found a true believer . . . and through his sweetness of spirit we will keep on believing.
