This park is designated a natural area.
Sleepy Hollow Park was named after its secluded location and the flood plain character. The park was partially acquired in 1969 and the remainder was acquired in 1973. Both were acquired from the City of Highland Park. Sleepy Hollow for the past several years has been hosting a “River Rescue Day” as a part of the Friends of the Chicago River System. Activities include trash removal, trail work, and planting.
