Audrey Koopsen Named New Deer Creek Assistant Head Tennis Professional

9/6/19 – The Park District of Highland Park has named Audrey Koopsen as the new Assistant Head Tennis Professional at Deer Creek Racquet Club.  In her new role, Koopsen will be responsible for instructing all levels of adult & junior players in group & private lesson settings;  directing summer tennis camp; planning, coordinating, and leading special events and peripheral activities in support of the instructional program; advising players in their strategic pursuit of skill development; and contributing to the general direction of the club’s programming structure and atmosphere.

     “We are excited to have Audrey join our team at Deer Creek,” said Rob Laue, Manager of Deer Creek Racquet Club.  “Her extensive coaching, planning and communication skills will be a great complement to our team of professionals and the club’s diverse programming mix.”

      Koopsen has been teaching professionally since 2010 and worked in recreational programs several years before that.  Most recently, she was the tennis & paddle professional at the Glenview Club where she assisted with the summer tennis program, managed junior camps, lead adult drills, and organized special events.  Prior to that, she was the Paddle Professional at Lake Forest Club where she led adult drills and coordinated special events.  Earlier in her career, Koopsen was the Junior Director at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff where she organized age 12 & under programs, developed & taught lessons, managed communications & promotion, directed tournaments, and coordinated special events.  She also served as the Tennis Professional at the Northbrook Racquet Club where she launched the junior “QuickStart” program and worked with women’s travel teams and men’s leagues.

     Koopsen has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan.  She was a four-year varsity tennis player and played #1 Singles & #1 Doubles positions in the lineup and served as team captain.  Koopsen comes from a tennis family.   Her parents and her sister are also tennis instructors.  Koopsen enjoys spending her free time renovating her new house with her husband and spending time with their two dogs.
