Closures in Proactive Response to COVID-19

Updated 3/31/20 –

COVID-19 Resources | FAQs

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has extended the Illinois Stay-at-Home Order through April 30, 2020.  In accordance with the order, all Park District of Highland Park activities and programs are canceled, and all facilities and playgrounds (including Sunset Woods skatepark, all outdoor basketball, tennis and pickleball courts, sports fields, open recreation areas, and Sunset Valley Golf Club) are closed through April.

The best way we can prevent the spread of illness is to stay home, limit public outings to essential services, and always maintain a six-foot distance from others. Please note that for the health and safety of our community, the following activities are prohibited under the Stay-at-Home Order:

Congregating in our Parks with any number of people is no longer permitted. To maintain a healthy lifestyle, we encourage you to engage in outdoor walking, hiking, running, or biking complying with the Social Distancing requirements. Please do your part by practicing social distancing and maintaining six feet or more between people.

We know how important recreation, sports, and fitness are for our residents’ social, emotional, and physical wellbeing. However, we are in extraordinary times.  As the  COVID-19 pandemic is rapidly evolving, the number of cases is increasing exponentially. Social distancing is vital to flatten the curve and save lives.

Our Emergency Operations Team is working with our local, state, and federal authorities to assess this situation with the primary goal of keeping our customers, residents, and staff safe and healthy.

Updates will be provided on the Park District website, Facebook page, and via email.  To sign up for our emails, click here.  During our closure, we are providing tips and ideas for you and your family to stay happy and healthy during this challenging time. Follow our ideas and videos for fitness and exercise, golf tips, indoor activities, crafts and projects for all ages posted on Staying Happy and Healthy at Home and on our Facebook page.

We appreciate your flexibility and patience during these trying and unprecedented times and hope you and your family remain safe and healthy in the coming days.
