Recreation Center of Highland Park Reopens July 6!

6/26/20 –  Starting Monday, July 6, the Recreation Center of Highland Park will reopen our doors. Following the state’s Phase 4 safety guidelines, we are committed to the health and safety of everyone who visits. As our Center reopens, you will still see the same friendly faces you were used to, but some things will look different.

The CDC tells us that keeping space between each other is one of the best ways to avoid exposure to the COVID-19 virus. We are implementing several safety measures to make sure social distancing can be achieved, including reducing the number of people permitted into the Recreation Center and increasing space between equipment.

As a reminder, you may NOT enter the facility if you have any COVID-19 symptoms or from a household with someone with COVID-19 symptoms. Additionally, while at the Recreation Center of Highland Park:

Entering & Checking In

Clean & Safe

Throughout our facility, you will find social distancing markers and an increased number of sanitation stations for your hands and for the equipment. You will be required to wipe down the equipment before and after your use with gym wipes located conveniently throughout the facility.

Staff members will be actively monitoring, and cleaning equipment using an EPA registered and hospital-grade disinfectant. All staff members are required to wear masks while on duty.

Cardio Equipment

You will notice that we have moved some of the cardio equipment to the gym floor to allow for physical distancing. This new “annex space” is located on the east end of the gym closest to the stairs.

Personal Training

We have created one-on-one personal training studios for our trainers and their clients for increased physical distancing and privacy. If you are interested in personal training, contact the Recreation Center of Highland Park.

Services and Amenities Not Open

Unfortunately, some of our regular services and amenities will not be open during this time:

Designated bathrooms and family changing rooms will be open.

*The indoor pool is currently under going a renovation to replace the pool shell. We  anticipate this work will be completed by the end of July. Once the work is completed and if guidelines allow for the indoor pool to open, we will communicate the opening plan for the indoor pool.

Remember, the biggest thing you can do to contribute to keeping the Rec Center the safest place for all of our members to be outside of their own homes is to stay home if you are sick or exposed to anyone with COVID-19. We can be safe if we are all working together. We look forward to seeing you soon and being an important part of your fitness routine.
