COVID-19: Facility & Program Status Update

8/14/20 –

COVID-19 Resources | FAQs

Please Note:  Face masks are now required at all times at all indoor facilities, even when exercising.

The Park District is closely following the Governor’s Restore Illinois Plan, as well as guidelines provided by the CDC,  Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the City of Highland Park. Our priority is to return recreational activities safely and responsibly to parks, beaches, sports fields, and facilities for the social, emotional, and physical well-being of the community as soon as permissible.

The Park District has adopted a comprehensive plan for reopening. The plan is fluid and updated regularly as new information is released. We ask for your patience and understanding as difficult decisions are being made regarding our reopening. We appreciate your compliance with safety guidelines and procedures when visiting and recreating at our parks and facilities.

Beaches

Highland Park is one of the few communities in the area providing access to its public beaches during the COVID-19 pandemic.  The Park District has instituted policies, safety guidelines and protocols to allow this recreational access for the well-being of our community.  Before visiting our beaches please review this important information.

For additional information and FAQ on Rosewood Beach, click here.

Family Play at the Parks

All Park District of Highland Park playgrounds are open.  To ensure our playgrounds can remain open and we all stay safe and healthy, please follow these important guidelines:

Bathrooms and water fountains
Park bathrooms and water fountains remain closed until further notice.  Please be sure to plan your park visit appropriately.  Updates will be provided once the Park District has determined that bathrooms can be safely reopened.

Basketball courts
All outdoor basketball courts are open.  Please be advised that while residents may play basketball, athletic competition with physical contact is not permitted.

As a reminder, when in our parks and beaches:

FAQs

Registration and Billing

I want to sign up for an activity. What are my registration options?

Activity registration is currently online only. In-person registration is unavailable at this time. If you need assistance creating or retrieving your Park District account, or if you are unable to access our online registration portal, please email registrations@pdhp.org or call 847.831.3810 and a member of our team will gladly assist you.

Will I be billed for my membership/program while the Park District is closed?

Membership billing is suspended during the closure. Upon reopening, memberships will be adjusted accordingly. If your membership is paid for in monthly installments, the next bill will be prorated to deduct the number of days that the Park District was closed.  If your membership is paid for in full for the year, an extension will be added to the end of your membership term for the number of days that the Park District was closed.

Park Permits and Rentals

How can I reserve a park permit date/pavilion for the summer?

You can put in your request for a park permit online.   Once the Park District reopens, customers will be contacted to purchase park permits if their requested date/time is available.

I have an upcoming facility reservation or park permit, are these still valid?

Facility reservations and park permits scheduled through May 31 are canceled. Park District staff will be in contact with those who have confirmed reservations during these dates to coordinate rescheduling or refunds.

I have a future rental, how do I get information about it?

If you have a future rental at a Park District facility, please contact that facility with any questions. (see facility contact list above)
