COVID-19: Facility & Program Status Update
3/29/21- Due to decreasing COVID-19 positivity rates and hospitalizations, our region is now in Phase 4. The guidelines allow:
- Meetings and social gatherings limited to lesser of 50 guests or 50% of overall room capacity both indoors and outdoors, allowing rentals to occur at park district facilities.
- Indoor/outdoor recreation programs with less than 50 participants (or 50% of overall room capacity) can take place.
- Competitive gameplay and tournaments are permitted for moderate and lower risk sports. Intra-team scrimmages are permitted for higher risk sports. Limit of 50 spectators for events.

To keep you and our staff safe, please remember to wear your mask and practice social distancing while participating in our indoor and outdoor programs. The Park District will continue to closely follow this evolving situation and guidance from our State, County, and City officials. Health and Safety: Priority One
We must all do our part to slow the spread of COVID-19. Our residents’ health and safety are and always will be our top priority. Rest assured, we are committed to continuing recreational opportunities within the mitigation guidelines to keep you and your family active while also keeping you safe and healthy. Together, we can help flatten the number of COVID-19 cases and allow our Park District to return all in-person recreational activities and programs safely and responsibly to our facilities for the social, emotional, and physical well-being of the community.
Below are the details on how the Park District is responding to the new mitigation orders.
Registered Programs
For any Winter programs that did not start on the original start date, customer accounts are credited a pro-rated amount for the number of sessions missed. For all programs that were canceled in their entirety, customer accounts are credited the amount of the program or a customer may request a refund. Facility Status
Centennial Ice Arena

- All programs and activities for Ice and Gymnastics are taking place as scehduled.
- Up to 50 skaters are allowed on the ice.
- Hockey competition has resumed.
- Spectators are allowed in the ice arena in a limited capacity. Spectators are not allowed for gymnastics.
Deer Creek Racquet Club

Doubles Play is allowed.
- All classes are taking place as scheduled. Registration is available here.

- Demo racquets are not available.
- Any cancelled classes during Tier 2 & 3 mitigation are credited to your Park District account.
- Permanent Court Time has resumed.
- A reservation is required.
- The travel tennis team and USTA tournaments have resumed.
- Face masks are required at all times, even while playing.
- Private Lessons are available for one-on-one and semi-privates. Payments are required on the day of lesson in order to continue privates.
- Pickleball: allowed with no more than four players.
- Racquetball: allowed with no more than two players.
- Table Tennis: allowed with no more than two players
Please remember, a face mask is required at all times and maintain social distancing during water breaks. Please follow these important guidelines.
Recreation Center of Highland Park

- The Recreation Center of Highland Park closes at 1pm on Saturday and Sunday.
- Reservations for the fitness floor and lap swim continue for Recreation Center members and pass holders only.

Do Your Part
Remember to prevent the spread of respiratory diseases, including COVID -19, consistently follow the Lake County Health Department guidelines:
- Wherever you go, you should always follow public health guidelines, including the 3 Ws to reduce your risk of getting and spreading COVID-19:
- WEAR A MASK
- WASH YOUR HANDS
- WATCH YOUR DISTANCE
- Stay home if you are sick, except to receive medical care, and avoid close contact with people who are sick. Do not walk into a healthcare facility, urgent care clinic, or hospital before calling. Discuss your symptoms with your doctor. If your doctor believes that you need to be tested for COVID-19, they should refer you to a COVID-19 testing site.
- Get the flu vaccine!
- If you are an older adult or have a serious medical condition like heart disease, diabetes, lung disease or have a weakened immune system, contact your doctor immediately if you have any COVID-19 symptoms.
- If you do not have a doctor or primary care provider, you may contact the Lake County Health Department at (847) 377-8800. Testing can currently be done free of charge at 102 W. Water St. in Waukegan, IL, between 8 am – 4 pm. Testing is also available at other locations https://dph.illinois.gov/testing
