COVID-19: Phase 5 Update

6/11/21 –

We are thrilled to announce that with the State of Illinois entering Phase 5 of its Restore Illinois Plan, the Park District of Highland Park has returned to full capacity at all our facilities and has updated our face mask guidelines, effective immediately.

We know how vital recreation, sports, and fitness are for everyone’s social, emotional, and physical well-being. Our priority throughout the pandemic has been to keep you safe and healthy while still providing accessible, quality recreational outlets for you and your family in the face of these unprecedented challenges. We never closed or ceased operations, but continually adjusted our course based on the latest guidance provided by our regulatory agencies to provide vital programs to keep our community safe and active.

We wanted to take this opportunity to thank our community for your patience and cooperation as we have navigated this pandemic together.

Face Mask Guidelines

While many of the Park District’s operations continue to return to “normal,”  there are a few mitigations still in place by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DECO).  See below for details:

Currently, the Park District is not tracking patrons and participants for vaccinations. By participating in a Park District program, lesson, or activity or visiting a Park District facility without a face mask, you are verifying truthfully that you have been fully vaccinated.
You are considered fully vaccinated:

If you don’t meet these requirements, regardless of your age, you are NOT fully vaccinated. Keep taking all precautions until you are fully vaccinated.

Facility-Specific Guidelines

For your continued safety, certain guidelines will remain in place at some of our facilities.  For facility-specific guidelines and other information click on the facility links below:

4th of July Events

For the safety of our residents, the 4th of July Parade and Fourth Fest event are cancelled. Battle of the Bands and the Fireworks Display may be rescheduled to later in the year if the State of Illinois COVID-19 guidelines allow.  While this was a difficult decision to cancel and postpone our traditional Independence Day celebrations that have been enjoyed by generations of Highland Park residents, the safety of our community is our top priority.

In place of the traditional 4th of July community events, the Park District is hosting a series of small outdoor family friendly events to celebrate our Independence Day.
