The Lifeguard is responsible for performing a variety of duties to safely oversee activities at the aquatic and lakefront facilities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Guard the pool or waterfront, maintaining appropriate zone coverage and adequate scanning.
- Enforce facility rules in order to prevent aquatic emergencies.
- Effectively participate in regular training and in-service sessions, demonstrating proper knowledge and mastery of lifeguard skills.
- Conduct or assist in swim testing procedures.
- Perform daily opening and closing tasks and checklists.
- Cleaning and organizing pool deck and equipment.
- Maintain a clean facility and swimming area.
- Perform rescues, and work as part of the rescue team in case of aquatic emergencies.
- Initiate and follow emergency procedures as outlined in the facility Emergency Action Plan (EAP).
- Perform first aid and fill out appropriate paperwork.
- Place and remove lane lines or swim area demarcations.
- Conduct and properly document pool readings.
- Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the Districts safety program.
- Assist in set up and organization of the pool or beach office, and first aid locations.
- Field and answer patron questions to the best of their ability. Operate point-of-sale and check-in software when appropriate.
- Greet patrons and provide professional and positive customer service.
Salary Range: $16.00-$18.00 Hourly
