Introduction to Baseball

Parent and Tot – Boys & Girls Ages 3-5
Come sing “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” and take parent/player photos to commemorate the experience. This class is an exciting introduction to baseball/softball that will provide your child with a better knowledge of base running, catching, throwing, field position, and hitting off a tee. Games are played at Legends Ballpark at West Ridge Park. No scores are kept and no outs are counted. Parent (or adult guardian) and the player will receive a team jersey. Only one child per adult may participate. (7 weeks)
For more information, contact Mike Divincenzo at 847-579-3198 or mdivincenzo@pdhp.org.

Sluggers- Pre K & K

Join us for an unforgettable summer! Boys and girls will play on appropriately-sized fields designed to accommodate simultaneous “off the tee” or “coach pitch” baseball games. Legends Ballpark features four adjacent fields with home run fences, bleachers, and PA systems. Practices or games will be 45 minutes to an hour in the time window listed below. A Sluggers t-shirt and MLB cap is included with each registration. Players will start the season hitting off the tee and move to coach pitch halfway through the season. Players will also have the opportunity to walk in the July 4th parade. Parents are encouraged to become volunteer coaches.

Meet our Coaches:

James Duckmann Head 12U Travel Baseball Coach: Pitching/Hitting:
Coach Duckmann played while playing in high school earned ALL-Conference, All Area, MVP, Team Captain and IHSA All Academic Honors. Coach James continued his education and playing days while he was attending Purdue University. Coach James played on Purdue’s Club team where he was named to the NCBA All-Conference team and eventually graduated with a Mechanical Engineering Degree from Purdue University. The last 2 seasons Coach James has been coaching high school baseball for Maine West as their Pitching/Bench Coach.

Coach Duckmann Testimonial : I have been coaching baseball for many years at the highest travel levels.  Both of my kids play travel/club baseball.  In my experience Coach Duckmann is the best coach at developing young players.  His attention to detail and fundamentals is unrivaled by most travel coaches.  Instead of just telling kids what they are doing wrong, Coach Duck devises drills to train the player how to make the necessary corrections and improvements, building a solid fundamental foundation from which to develop advanced skills.  Coach Duck is especially skilled at teaching proper pitching mechanics and is my coach of choice when it comes to pitching lessons for my own son.  After only a handful of personal training sessions with Coach Duck, my son began to see measurable improvement in his pitching which translated onto the field and into games. 2020 Travel Baseball Parent

Coach Bobby Fratto 10U Travel Baseball Coach Hitting/Fielding:Coach attend Oakton Community College before finishing his education at Concordia University. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and graduated in 2011. Coach was ranked #18 overall prospect in Prep Baseball Report, as well as recognized as a top 50 player to watch in the Chicago Sun times and Tribune. Coach Fratto help lead his OPRF High School team to a Super-Sectional Title. He then played at OCC where the team won a National title for Junior Colleges. He then transferred to Concordia to finish up his education and playing days. Coach Fratto has been coaching the in the OPRF feeder program, where he has been the head coach for their 13U team. Baseball has always been his biggest passion. Coach loves sharing his knowledge gained and is love for the game to the younger generations. Coach is now working with our 9U Travel Fall Baseball team.

Coach Bobby has been doing a wonderful job with my son. He has been easy to contact, flexible in scheduling and very attentive to my son’s goals. It’s great when you ask your kid “How did training go?” and the answer is “GREAT!” and then when you ask “How do you like your coach?” and the response is “He’s awesome! I’m really having fun and I think I’m getting much better! Thanks Coach Bobby, it’s fantastic to see my son running out the door for his lessons and continually improving his all-around skills! 2020 Travel Baseball Parent

Coach Bobby Testimonial  is an amazing coach! My son loves him!! Not only has he helped tremendously improve my son’s pitching, fielding, and hitting skills, but he has also furthered his overall knowledge of the game. Bobby knows how to run an organized, fundamentals-based practice while keeping the players motivated and having fun. He inspires a love of the game and a positive attitude that my son will take with him in the years to come. I give Coach Bobby my highest recommendation! 2020 Travel Baseball Parent

Coach Joel Gamino 12U Travel Baseball Coach Fielding/Hitting/Catching:
Attend high school in Dekalb where he served as team captain. Coach Gamino continued serving as team captain in college as he played at Elgin Community College and finishing his playing days at Judson University. Coach graduated from Judson with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He later earned a master’s degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Bilingual Education from National Louis University.  Coach Gamino has been teaching for 8 years (just starting year 9) and is teaching at U46 6th grade gifted language. He comes with 6 years of coaching experience from Westminster Christian and West Aurora High Schools, as well as Huntley Red Raider 11U Travel.  Coach is now working with our 9U Travel Fall Baseball team.

Coach Joel Testimonial is incredible! My son’s primary sport has always been basketball and he played baseball to stay active. Coach Joel has really helped my son to enjoy baseball more than ever. My son struggled with his confidence at the plate and was always looking for a walk. We began seeing coach Joel regularly this fall and my son ended his season with a walk off home run! He cannot wait for the next season to start! Coach Joel is highly recommended! 2020 House Baseball Parent

Coach Zach Zoloto 9-14U Travel Baseball Assistant Head Coach Pitching:
Coach Zoloto has played in the Highland Park travel baseball program since he was 8 years old, and then continued on to play 4 years of high school baseball, including 2 years as a varsity starting pitcher. He started and won the 2019 Regional Championship game. Coach Zoloto is currently a sophomore at the University of Minnesota and is a student manager for the Gophers baseball team. He has coached throughout the highland park baseball program for the past 4 years, including serving as a travel assistant for several teams. Coach currently works with teams and players at all ages throughout the program, specifically focusing on pitching mechanics, velocity, and pitch development.

Coach Zach Testimonial is a terrific addition to the HP program. Our community is lucky to have him on the staff. Coach Z is kind and patient with the players and connects at a very high personal level – the kids relate to him and trust him. Coach Z is very knowledgeable and can help develop young pitchers into confident aces. My son has taken lessons with Coach Z and he helped him learn the fundamentals of pitching, how to throw a change up, and how to work on and off the mound.  He helped put him on the right track to be competing on and off the mound. I highly recommend Coach Z for any young player looking to get better at baseball.  2020 Travel Baseball Parent
