Pickleball is America’s fastest-growing sport and provides a wonderful opportunity for the community to enjoy a healthy activity with friends and neighbors. To accommodate the growing demand in Highland Park, the Park District offers leagues and lessons and is adding more opportunities to play pickleball indoors and outdoors!

Courts 1-6 are available ONLY on a reservation basis and will not operate under the paddle-up system under any circumstance. If a player would like to reserve Courts 1-6, please download the Club Pickle & Padel App found on the Apple/Android App Store.

If courts 7-16 are open and no one is waiting, you can use any available court.

Once courts are full, players are required to use the paddle-up system to determine the order of play as follows:

• Waiting players should put their paddle in the next available slot on the paddle-up system to hold their place in line; the rotation moves left to right. The paddle-up system moves directionally from left to right.
• Each color-coded area of the paddle-up system represents future court groupings.
  • Players wishing to play together may do so by racking together in the next available color group on the paddle-up system. If space for the group is not available, those players MUST use the paddle-up system as individuals, occupying the next available slots on the paddle-up system.
• Under no circumstances should any player move ahead of any other player that has their paddle racked. Since the paddle-up system determines the order of play for the next game, no new game should start ahead of those players that are next.  If the front of the paddle-up system happens to be “incomplete” (less than 4) some other waiting players should fill in those open slots to allow rotation to continue.
• Courts rotate after one game or after 15 minutes if an actual game is not being played.
• When a court becomes available, the player(s) next in line, are responsible for moving down the “next” sign on the rack system to the next color group on the paddle-up system.
• Single and doubles play are permitted.
• Games are played to 11 (win by 2).

Players must wear tennis shoes with non-marking insoles to ensure safety and protection of the court surface.

All Park District programs have priority use of the courts. Only Park District staff are permitted to provide lessons on the courts; each occurrence subject to a FINE: PD Ord. Sec. 6.02; 7.01; 2.33 (d). Pickleball play only on these courts – no rollerblades, skateboards, bicycles or dogs allowed. Play is prohibited when snow or ice are present. Shoveling is strictly prohibited.
