This year the Park District had budgeted to refresh the Larry Fink Elementary Playground. A playground refresh is intended to extend the life of a playground with improvements to the paths, amenities and replacement of specific playground pieces.
After further evaluation, rather than moving forward with the refresh, the District will add the complete renovation of the Larry Fink Park Elementary Playground to the 5-Year Capital Plan.
The complete renovation will include a full replacement of the playground equipment, amenity upgrades and path improvements. The final scope will be determined through a collaborative planning process in which the community will have the opportunity to help shape the future playground.
The 2026 5-Year Capital Plan will be presented to the Park Board for approval at a public meeting later this year.
In Spring of 2026, the Park District will be making improvements to the Elementary Playground at Larry Fink Memorial Park.
The project goals are to improve accessibility, reduce maintenance, and update park features.
The Park District is extending the life of the playground and strengthening inclusivity by refreshing this space with new amenities, path improvements, and select playground updates.
