Volunteer

Whether you are planning a one-day service event for a school or business, want to join our natural areas restoration days, or seek a longer-term commitment by coaching one of our youth sports programs, we offer tools, expertise and support to make your volunteer experience fulfilling.

Love the Outdoors?

Become part of the team working to restore our natural areas. Activities include collecting seeds, planting native plants, and removing invasive species like buckthorn and garlic mustard. Our volunteers meet most Fridays at Heller Nature Center (9 am to noon). School, corporate and community groups are welcome.

Call 847.571.7740 to set up an event that works with your needs.

Like to Spruce Things Up?

Heller Nature Center needs trail and grounds maintenance volunteers. Assist Heller staff with trail trimming, gardening, and wood chipping trails. Ages 12 and up welcome. Ages 8 and up welcome with a parent/guardian. Groups are welcome!

Call Heller Nature Center at 847.433.6901.

Want to BEE a volunteer?

Heller Nature Center’s beekeeping volunteers help keep our hives healthy and thriving while learning about the world of honeybees. They gain hands-on experience in the apiary and have fun working with a diverse and knowledgeable group of staff and volunteers.  Participation in the program can be as involved as you wish. Heller staff send out emails about special projects and when we host larger workdays.

To get on the contact list, call Heller Nature Center at 847.433.6901.
