The Slide Attendant is responsible for performing a variety of duties to prepare the pool for the demands of group present. Works in groups of a minimum of 1 to a maximum of 3 Slide Attendants. They are a part-time employee working from 2-40 hours a week. Work shifts are variable with an average of 5 or 6 hours a day. They may be as long as 11 hours, but there are extended breaks within this period. The Slide Attendant is hired seasonally Memorial Day through Labor Day. Work is performed at a self-controlled pace but may vary depending on the demands of the job required. The Slide Attendant is required to participate in a 15-minute daily training session to demonstrate knowledge or ability to perform work activities. This can be verbal or physical and can cover all aspects of any of the described essential functions. The Slide Attendant is also required to attend several longer training sessions during the season.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain order at the top of the water slide and deck area.
  • Clean pool deck and locker room areas.
  • Place and remove lane lines.
  • Organize lawn chairs.
  • Pull out or remove equipment carts.
  • Assist as part of the rescue team in case of aquatic emergencies.
  • Perform first aid and fill out appropriate paperwork.
  • Move guard chairs.
  • Perform all job tasks within the rules and guidelines of the Districts safety program.
  • Assist in set up and organization of Guest Services.
  • Field and answer patron questions to the best of ability.
  • Participate in community activities.
  • Perform other Park District-related duties as assigned.

Salary Range

  • $14.50-16.70 per hour
