Mission
GO Highland Park is a community-wide movement designed to promote our residents’ health through activity, education, and collaboration.
Inspired by a presentation and challenge from former Surgeon General, Vivek K. Murthy, to encourage U.S. residents to walk at least 30 minutes each day, the GO initiative was founded by the Gurnee Park District and has expanded into a county-wide movement through a partnership with the Live Well Lake County. The Park District of Highland Park is a proud partner in this important initiative to improve the health of our residents by enhancing and increasing the shared experience of walking.
Walk with Us
The GO Highland Park movement is simple – encourage everyone in our community to walk at least 30 minutes a day. Take a daily walk in your neighborhood or at a park/trail of your choice, by yourself or with a neighbor – the main purpose is to get moving! Look for events throughout the year promoting healthy living and an active lifestyle. Join us for one of our community walks! Join neighbors in walking your way to better health!

How Can You Get Involved?
Anyone can get involved in GO Highland Park simply by walking for 30 minutes a day! Here are a few ideas if you’d like to take it a step further:
- Invite your family, friends, and neighbors to join you for regular walks in your neighborhood or at a park/trail of your choice.
- Organize a weekly “walking” event and invite everyone in your neighborhood to walk together.
- Snap a selfie next time you’re walking and submit it to kerickson@pdhp.org for a chance to be featured on the Park District of Highland Park Facebook or Instagram page.
- Do you have other ideas to spread the word or do you want to start your own Go Highland Park initiative? Go for it! We need community support for this community health movement to be successful. Contact kerickson@pdhp.org.
