Under the direction of the Manager of Fitness, the Group Exercise Instructor provides passionate and motivating group fitness instruction to our members. The Group Exercise Instructor will teach a safe, structured exercise class to members of various abilities. Our instructors are equal part performer and coach. You will lead your classes welcoming enthusiasm and modifications for all participants. You are foiled with creativity and unique sequencing in each class. Our instructors are inspirational in helping others transform their lives to achieve optimal fitness goals and happier lives through positive motivation, education, and movement. Establishes and maintains relationships for long-term participation and membership goals. The Group Exercise Instructor contributes to the overall success of the Recreation Center by embodying the mission, vision, and values of the Park District of Highland Park to provide welcoming, caring, and extraordinary experiences.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead structured exercise classes (kickboxing, step, hi/lo yoga, pilates, muscle conditioning, water aerobics).
- Assist with the maintenance of exercise equipment (body jars, stability balls, rubber tubing, hand weights).
- Offer useful, tactful, and safe advice to individuals regarding their exercise program and/or use of equipment.
- Enforce all facility and program policies.
- Ability to conduct safe and effective exercise classes.
- Experience teaching aerobics to various groups.
- An understanding of strength training and cardiovascular exercise.
- Knowledge of basic anatomy and physiology.
- Ability to assist individuals in developing safe and effective exercise program.
- Good communication skills.
Salary Range: $20.00 – $50.00 Hourly
